Virginia LuPone
Director Greene Arts Institute
virginia@gafest.comVirgina LuPone became a professional actress when she was a teenager.
She travelled from her home in Ohio to New York City to audition while still
attending high school. She eventually moved to New York and worked on occassion in
theatre and television, but spent more time waitressing than acting. After much
soul searching, she eventually left the business to become a teacher. After receiving her
degree in English Literature she was enticed into the field of advertising where she worked for
commercial production companies in New York City wearing various hats from administrative to sales.
Despite giving up the acting profession, she has maintained a long term relationship with an
Off-Broadway theatre company for more than fifteen years. Now a mother and full-time resident of
Greene County, she returns to two of her greatest passions: arts and education. As
Director of the Greene Arts Insititute, she is dedicated to making Greene County, New York
a leader in arts education and a first-class cultural destination.
